O Gauge Modelling on the GWR

A personal Journey

Poland

I guess there is only one way to do things and having the experience of driving a real live steam locomotive taking folk to work is the only way to do it. So I went with  a friend to Poland for a week working on the Polish National Railway. Our base was in Wolsztyn. It meant early starts (5:30am), and driving a large steam locomotive stopping at several stations along the way. Sometimes we drove, sometimes we fired.

A couple of afternoons spent cleaning old locos

An early morning drive, then a return journey in the afternoon. Pretty big stuff!

On the turntable at the end of the day.

Opposite: One day we returned to Wolsztyn, tender first, at a lick, with yours truly at the helm!
Two videos from the line at the bottom of this page

Look at the way that the turntable syncs with the track in the first video. Might be something to consider on my own turntable.
The second video has a GWR Prairie pulling coaches - strange!
