Coal Mine
Built some time ago from Invertrain narrow gauge buildings and Slaters Gauge 1 King wheels! The lifting frame is homemade with brass wire stretching from the pump house to the top of the wheels. A wagon can be accommodated in the building alongside the shaft. How wagons become filled with coal is still a mystery, (a clue sits along side in the picture).
The mine pump house and wheel engine house. A combination of a Skytrex building and an Invertrain Narrow gauge building.
Finally, the engine shed for the mine loco, (another narrow gauge building from Invertrain). It will be necessary to have an 0-4-0 loco here as the curvature of the tracks is so tight. For now this 0-4-2 loco sits in the shed as it doesn't have a DCC chip installed. The main function of the mine will be to supply the railway with coal. This will require a delivery to be made from the mine into the sidings and thence to the coal stage. An opportunity for several shunting manoeuvres. Another reason for having more sidings at Wallington Park.
