A personal Journey

Track Ballasting

A laborious process but essential if you want to create a realistic image. The essential ingredients are PVA glue, (NOT the type that dries glossy) Scale grit ballast, a mixing bowl, a teaspoon and a piece of wood to tamp the grit into place. I have done this firstly by applying the grit dry to the tracks and then applying a diluted solution of PVA using a syringe. My current way of working is to mix the grit with a diluted mix of PVA and water and apply it with a spoon. Neither way is preferable to the other.
